Our Opinion
Since Republic proclamation, the Brazilian State has no official religion. The separation from the church to the State was a positivist initiative. (Initiative decree from Demétrio Ribeiro, Minister of the Provisory Government).
Religion is an intimate issue. Each person chooses which religion is in agreement with his own cosmovision.
It is inadmissible religion education at public schools, paid by the public safes, mainly at primary education where children can not escape from the ideas which are being planted on their minds.
Religion education must be done at home and in the churches.
It can not be paid by the public safes.
President Fernando Henrique Cardoso vetoes this law.
